AssemblyAI API summarization body parameter removal on POST /v2/transcript

Stopped workingSubscribe to AssemblyAI APIShare

On October 20, 2026, AssemblyAI API removed the legacy summarization feature. Requests to POST /v2/transcript using the body parameter summarization fail and return errors since that date. The legacy summarization model and top-level boolean parameters are no longer supported.

Calls it hits

  • POST /v2/transcript
  • body parameter summarization

What to use instead of these calls

Use Summarization under Speech Understanding (speech_understanding.request.summarization) instead.

In AssemblyAI API's words

The legacy Summarization model (the top-level summarization boolean and summary_model parameter) and the legacy Auto Chapters model are deprecated. Starting October 20, 2026, requests using them will return errors.
