# applies_to on POST /api/v1/outcome/ is deprecated

Close API deprecated POST /api/v1/outcome, body parameter applies_to without giving a shutdown date yet.

The body parameter applies_to on POST /api/v1/outcome has been deprecated without a shutdown date. In a future update, requests that include this field will see it ignored instead of processed, and Close API will derive its value from the type field. Calls that rely on writing applies_to will eventually fail to set this value directly.

## What to use instead

Stop sending applies_to and instead set the outcome's type to custom or vm-dropped, from which Close will derive the value.
