# The legacy SQL Permissions API is deprecated

Databricks REST API deprecated /api/2.0/preview/sql/permissions/* without giving a shutdown date yet.

Databricks deprecated the legacy SQL Permissions API without a shutdown date. Calls to /api/2.0/preview/sql/permissions/* are deprecated and will fail once removed. Databricks REST API notes that the Permissions API is now marked as deprecated.

## What to use instead

Manage query and alert permissions using the Workspace object permissions API at /api/2.0/permissions/{object_type}/{object_id}. To transfer ownership, use the Queries and Alerts update endpoints.
