Matrix.org homeserver API deprecated the GET /_matrix/media/v3/download/* endpoint without a shutdown date, noting that it will be removed from a future release. Calls targeting this endpoint will eventually fail once the removal takes effect.

## What to use instead

Call GET /_matrix/client/v1/media/download/{serverName}/{mediaId} with an access token instead. On matrix.org, media uploaded after the September 2024 freeze is only served on that replacement endpoint.
