Matrix.org homeserver API has deprecated GET /_matrix/media/v3/thumbnail/{id}/{id} without a shutdown date. Affected calls will eventually be removed and fail in a future release.

## What to use instead

Call GET /_matrix/client/v1/media/thumbnail/{serverName}/{mediaId} with an access token instead.
