# q on GET /data/2.5/forecast is deprecated

OpenWeather API deprecated GET /data/2.5/forecast, query parameter q without giving a shutdown date yet.

OpenWeather API has deprecated the query parameter q on the GET /data/2.5/forecast endpoint without announcing a shutdown date. Calls relying on this parameter fail, as requests by city name, zip-codes, and city ID are no longer supported. Developers using this endpoint must update their requests accordingly.

## What to use instead

Resolve the city name with the Geocoding API and call with lat and lon instead.
