Perplexity /async/chat/completions* endpoint removal

Stopped workingSubscribe to PerplexityShare

Perplexity removed the /async/chat/completions* endpoints on September 27, 2026. Calls to /async/chat/completions* fail since that day, as asynchronous Sonar requests are no longer supported. Any traffic sent to these endpoints now results in an error.

Calls it hits

  • /async/chat/completions*

What to use instead of these calls

Submit an Agent API request using POST /v1/agent with background: true and poll the response by id.

In Perplexity's words

Asynchronous Sonar requests are not reformulated and are no longer supported
