# scopes on POST /payment_initiation/consent/create is deprecated

Plaid API deprecated POST /payment_initiation/consent/create, body parameter scopes without giving a shutdown date yet.

Plaid has deprecated the scopes body parameter on POST /payment_initiation/consent/create without a shutdown date. The field is still honored for now, but it will be removed in the future, causing requests relying on it to fail.

## What to use instead

Send type with either SWEEPING or COMMERCIAL instead of the scopes parameter.

- API: Plaid API (production.plaid.com)
- Kind: Parameter removal
- Announced: October 15, 2024
- Takes effect: no date given yet
- Calls after that day: fail
- Calls it hits: `POST /payment_initiation/consent/create`, `body parameter scopes`

> The scopes field will still be honored if used, but customers are encouraged to use the new type field instead, and the scopes field will be removed in the future.
